FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I notice some similar questions I get. If these do not answer yours please email me.
How much does a website cost?
As much as I would like to this question simply, there is no thumb rule as to what a website should cost. It will certainly depend on project requirements, features, and inclusions to say the least. Some websites that are less complex will incur a different cost than a website that has some custom features and integrations. A fully customized website with in-depth custom features and integrations including e-commerce will incur higher cost. We will have a detailed conversation to discuss your needs and provide the right quote.
Where are you located?
I am based about 30 minutes outside of Washington D.C at the moment, however I have clients based in just about every state. Thanks to online portals like Zoom and Google Meet I can be available to you any time from 9 a.m. (est) to 8 p.m. (est).
What tools do you use to create websites?
I can create your website with most tools from Squarespace to React & Node.Js. Most commonly I will create with WordPress or Webflow because they are great content management systems that my clients find easy to use and update.
When do I pay?
For most projects, equal payments are made at the start, and again at the end of the project, but I can work with you to set up a schedule that meets your needs. Websites can be a big investment and I want to help you budget for the expense in whatever way possible.
I accept checks, PayPal, and all major credit cards.
Who writes the content for the site?
You are the expert on your business, so it’s usually best if it comes from you. If you need help, I can recommend copywriters who can help clean up or write original content for you at an additional cost.
Where should I host my website?
There are lots of options but I host all of my clients. This is for a very simple reason. If something ever happens there are no delays. If you host with GoDaddy for example and we need to edit the server I will spend a lot of time on the phone talking to a rep from a data center. The whole time your site is down. By hosting with me, we have total control over everything.
What if I need help on my site down the road?
I am only an email away! I am here to help you as much or as little as you need, and I do not disappear once the site is launched. I have been doing this for a long time and prefer to build long lasting relationships with my clients. I am going anywhere anytime soon.
How much input do I have in the process?
A Ton! Throughout each part of the process I am constantly looking for feedback. Before a line of code is written, I will send you a mockup of the homepage design so you can see exactly what I am thinking before we get started. My rule is no surprises.
Will I be able to update the site myself when it’s finished?
Yes! I love it when my clients take control of their website and learn to manage it on their own. I will provide you with a set of comprehensive video tutorials to help you learn your way around, as well provide you with a training session to help get you on your way. (Note: Feel free to sent me questions I love to answer them!)
Will you maintain my site for me?
Yes I can! We can talk about how you would like your site to evolve over time. I have some clients who only want me to make sure their security is up to date and maintain updates. Others send me a word doc each week and I make sure their blog is updated and update pages as needed. Whatever your needs are, we can make a custom plan for you!
