Kayleigh
Creative Brief
Based in Warsaw, Poland Kayleigh wanted a website that was “elegant yet clean, something that would bring my words to life yet still highlight my work.”
Kayleigh is a storyteller, who tells her story through photography. She is intentionally vague about each image attempting to paint an entire picture of what it feels like to be on location. Rather than telling you what each child is doing in a frame or what a farmer is doing in a field she attempts to convey the entire setting. Saying “here this how the youth of this city behave” or “this is how the peoples of this town carry their goods.” To keep inline with her passion of story telling together we choose to display her work in a scaling grid fashion, this creates a feeling of unity between all the images. Rather than any one image sticking out to you each view comes to it and sees a different one first. The story of what is happening, ultimately, is written in each viewer’s mind.
Result
The result was a site based on contrast. The large serif typeface invokes the same feeling as the title of a newspaper and drags your eye to it, juxtaposed with the high intensity of Kayleigh’s colorful photography, the users’ eyes quickly move from title to image then back description. This acts as a re-enforcement tool that keeps her work front and center while also informing reader.
